Lb7 turbo ??

Hey guys, i have a 2002 lb7 that has roughly 275,000 miles with ppe boost valve, 4 inch turbo back exhaust with the ppe hot 2 tuner... love the truck but yesterday i shut it off and didn't start it until this morning... when i parked it everything ran perfect... today i have no boost and it makes sort of a straining moaning noise right about when the truck should be building boost... i checked all the intercooler tubes and it doesn't look like i have an air leak... truck sounds fine at idle... not sure if the turbo siezed? is that common? any ideas

also i took my intake of and watch the turbine while it was running. it still spins but it almost looks like the shaft isn't spinning true... it looks like its spinning off center...so im guessing the turbo is shelled.. and if it is what would you guys recommend turbo wise.

see if there is any shaft play. should be little to none.

the S366 is supposed to be one of the best turbo upgrades. i have been eyeing one for some time now.

if youre going to upgrade the s366 is great. know a guy who put it on, awesome whistle, great spool at lower rpms for only being a single setup. if your stock one is shot just go ahead and upgrade, you wont be disappointed.

Thanks for the info guys... The turbo is unfortunately shot.... Now if I upgrade the turbo should I be worrying about egts... Will I have to change my manifolds and other parts... Or can will I be alright just upgrading the turbo?

an upgraded turbo if nothing else changes should lower EGT. more air will lower EGT. if you get a larger turbo and it is slow to spool then you will have a short period of higher temps. but the moment it builds boost then temps will come down. if it is a faster spooling turbo then you may only see higher temps on the top end.

if you are running any more HP over stock you should have an EGP anyways

if you go with a stock charger replacement then it should be bolt on. if you go with a non standard one like the S366 then you will need to replace the down pipe, intake horn, redo some of the turbo oil lines and purchase a turbo pedestal. there are kits that contain all of the needed parts to replace one like this.
