Fuel/air issues
I recently bought my 02 duramax and ever since i replaced the fuel filter the first time I cant leave the truck sitting for more than two days without having to prime it after it starts and runs out of fuel. I rebuilt the housing twice but cant find the leak. It doesnt leak fuel when running just sucks air after sitting. Any info is appreciated.

Have you replaced the wif sensor?
|
No I havent. never thought it as a culprit. i did replace filter with ac yesterday and noticed the coating on the black wire was broke and wires were showing. has this been a problem before?
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- how would this be causing the problem? |
The sensor part itself wont cause any problems but, the water drain can and also a bad seal at either oring can too.

Shouldn't cause any smoke just hard starts

also the fuel lines going to the filter and after up until the pump. the lines can dry out start to develop pin hole leaks that allow air in and fuel to drain back into the tank.
you can try pressurizing the fuel tank with a few psi of air and see if any areas leak fuel. another thing. lift pumps can make this problem go away. |
helpful info I greatly appreciate it :c: I have replaced the fuel lines because like you said they were dry rotted but think the problem has gone away since i replaced my wix filter with an ac

that's good. what ever you use, make sure it is one of those dual coalescing filters

I changed the bleed screw to a brass unit. My factory plastic one had a hairline crack that let it bleed down. Fixed my problem.
