Leveling kit or no leveling kit?

I know there's probably a bunch of threads on this but after reading a couple I'm confused (not the sharpest guy around). I want to put bigger tired on my 01 lb7. So I was thinking about getting a leveling kit but then I've also read/heard that you can crack the t-bars to get the same affect. My question is which is a safer/better route to go? What biggest size tire can I fit after installing or cranking?

Thanks ahead of time for you input this site has always helped me out so much with my truck.:c:

I personally wouldn't crank the t-bars. This can cause (once more this is my personal opinion and experance with what has happen) sag or maybe even some failure in your under carriage so to speak. Depending on what size tires your wanting to put on, or what you had on factory, or if your going with bigger rims. I read in Diesel Power that since its independent front end you need to beef up the front end. Or it'll cause some damage to the front end parts. Leveling it might help stuff some bigger gips under it..but you'll also have to count for rub. So that is kinda your opinion on if your going to rub or if you can fit em. I'd make sure that your tie rides and all that are in good shap and beefed up as well so that it will hold the tires/rims. I hope that made since cause I can't really remember what all they said bout the under carriage stuff. But thats something to think about.

i run 285/75r16s on my 02 gmc with no rub. no leveling kit, i just layed under the truck and turned both torsion bars up 3 full turns and it doesnt make it sit level, it still has a nose down appearance but i dont rub and it doesnt look bad by anymeans, still a smooth riding truck:tu:
