Need a new front bumper for our 1998 Suburban

We Need a new front bumper for our 1998 Suburban and the left/passenger side bumper brackets.

Bumper must be in good condition and not all bent up like ours is.

Have you considered LMCtruck?

Or are you wanting to ensure OEM quality bits buy purchasing used?

I straightened my own in the shop with a power pack and an assortment of hand tools. It's still a touch high on the passenger side:

but another round with the power pack will sort that out.

Might be an option if you're isn't bent like a pretzel....

There was a bumper exchange here the reconditioned bumpers. You might see what you have local.

Good to see you here Leroy.

I believe ours is to bent to straighten easily. I also need the plastic pieces behind the bumper on the passenger side.

I was warned on quality for the LMC bumper. What's the difference in grade between the 2 different priced bumpers there?

dmax3500 has a line on used bumpers. I am going to get in touch with him and see what he has>

Great White, Did you cut those fog/running lights in or is that a special bumper?

That is an option I would wish to explore.

Thanks

The bumper is a stocker I've modified. The openings are just the stock "nostrils" extended with the help of a cutting wheel and the welder. I cut the inner line of the nostril with the corners (to preserve the stock shape), extended the holes and then welded the edge piece back in. Lastly, I had to make and weld in some filler pieces for the missing parts of the hole "lip".

Getting more air in is the objective, the intercooler is going in between the AC condensor and the radiator. I also have a plan for getting more air out of the engine bay in the works. You can only stuff so much air in to an area if it can only get out so fast.....

The fog lights are just photoshopped in that picture, but they will be "frenched" into the bumper in that location.

Once it's all done, it goes out for proper smoothing and re-chroming.

LMCtruck offers and almost identical bumper except that the fog lights are round and not square:

There's other aftermarket bumpers out there that are even closer to what I'm making, but they have round fog lights too.

I've never seen one with square fogs, only round. It may exist out there somewhere, but I've never found it.

I'm fussy that way; I wanted square fog lights so I had to make one.....

Thanks. I will definately be checking that out
