Fuel Filter Housing?

Hello, new to this forum and to diesel in general. I have a 1996 Chevy 6.5. I changed the fuel filter and now I have a small leak. I removed the housing (part way left the lines attached) and the bottom was wet. So a little research told me it was likely the heater(?) element, and more than likely the o-ring in that. Problem is I can't find one anywhere, I am in a small town so the parts stores are not terribly helpful. Does anybody have a part number for this o-ring, or the whole housing if it comes with o-rings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem. I purchased a WIX filter, and it came with the O Ring. Most of the replacements should come with the O ring. I would try to open the package before you leave the store to make sure it is in the box.

BTW I had a hard time getting everything to mesh correctly, until I bought the WIX brand filter. It does away with the OEM Ring, as the filter assy they make comes with the ring, and the filter is slightly different in looks, but it fits just fine.

I hope this helps:choochoo:

I appreciate the help, but the housing is leaking from the bottom, I made the mistake of damaging the first fuel filter o-ring and went and bought a wix. But it leaks from the bottom from another seal I think it is the heater element o-ring

could be the Fuel filter manager (what holds the filter), they always crack. could be the fuel heater. and i would try a boneyard and see if they have one
