High idle solenoid on 6.2
 

How far should the high idle 'plunger' kick out when I put power to it on my 6.2? I add power directly and it only moves maybe 1/16-1/8 inch with the throttle away from it to have no resistance. I want to create a high idle switch, but I'm not sure the solenoid is working.
