sounds like a pmd.

if you have another one or have a friend with a good that is the only way to test it

DTC codes first please.

The Pump driver is a very likely culprit in a ds4 truck where it just dies for no reason.

While there is no OBDII code specific to the PMD failure, there are codes that associated with it when it fails. Kinda like a cascade failure effect...

I have the same problem with my 6,5 td Tahoe...could it be a "sticking metering valve"??

You mean the stalling for no reason?

Nope.

At least, not what you describe.

Super boost sensor?

Never heard of that one.

If you can wait a while, you can buy used pmd's on eBay for 30-40 bucks.

As with all things from eBay, you take your chances. But if you swap one in and your problems change or go away then you can spend the coin on a new one.

I'd recommend the kit from Heath diesel, but there are others out there....
