Diesel Bombers - Silencer Ring

I removed my air box to find that there is not a silencer ring in my 1995 6.5. I have done some research and found that there is a silencer ring in the 6.5 turbo but doesn't know how to remove I need help please. I have seen other 6.5's on youtube that have removed the ring or done a different mod to get the louder spool of the turbo

There is a "horse cock" style silencer, but it is just a resonance tube that comes off the rubber ducting:

If your truck has this, removing it will give a bit more :w2:, but it's not a silencer ring like you are thinking of. Mine still has it on and the turbo will howl like a banshee if I hit it's resonance point.

Other than that, swap in a high flow intake and filter and go to a 3" down pipe, 4" exhaust and a glasspack style muffler.

A turbo master will also keep you into the boost longer and hit sooner than the stock vacuum system, so it will also make the turbo :w2: a little bit more...

They're never going to sound like a powerstroke or duramax with a custom turbo spooling up though.

Lots of the videos on youtube are guys running without filters or intake ducting for effect.

You can't run that way for long on the street or your engine is gonna........:se:

That would be what is referred to as the K47 RPO option code.

Not all trucks got it so you can't just go by year. It came with the 8600 GVWR trucks or if it was special ordered.

S&B has a better flowing box than the K47, but it isn't cheap and it won't do a lot for "whistle".

The K47 is also not that easy to find anymore, most 6.5-ers are wise to the upgrade and have scoured most of the scrappers. Not to mention, a lot of these truck have gone to the crusher by now.

Expect to pay 100-150 for a complete box if you manage to find one...S&B was 299 last time I looked.
