EGT Probe

Hey guys newbie here. I was searching through the forum for proper placement for the egt probe and came across Crazy and his directions and pictures, which were great, but i was under the impression that the turbo should be removed to clean the shavings out of the manifold to prevent possible damage to the turbo. Thanks for your help in advance.

Removing the turbo is probably the safest way, but I've been told you can leave it on if you can safely run the engine while drilling and tapping to blow out any chips, and coat the bit and tap in grease to help catch the chips. You would want to start with a cold engine.

Ok that makes perfect sense to run it. Thanks for clearing that up.

A magnet works well to get the shavings out as well......
