6.2 high idle switch
Is it possible to create a high idle switch for a 6.2? If so, how would I do it?
Thanks |
There should be a high idle solenoid mounted next to the injection pump, around the throttle cable. You'll know it when you see it. With a continuity tester, find out which wire is ground, this will tell you that the other is positive. Tap into that wire, then run a new piece to the switch, then come off a switched part on the fuse panel for supply. When you flip the switch, may have to push the accelerator pedal down. If nothing happens, you may have a faulty solenoid.

I hear the solenoid 'click' but nothing moves. Faulty solenoid?

This is what your looking for. It'll have just one terminal, so 12v + to kick it in. |
Yup, that's the one, I put 12 v direct to it, and it clicks but doesn't move, even without the accelerator against it, I figured it would 'pop' out without the resistance against it. I thought maybe this meant the solenoid was bad?

Usually if nothing happens its bad. Never had one click and not pop out.

I thought it was kinda weird too. Hate to buy one and have the same problem tho, $100+ solenoid from that I can find.

I had a line on a few of em, but the guy hauled off all his engines for scrap. If you got a wrecking yard near by, might be able to get one of a 5.7 or another 6.2

That's what I figure, the 5.7 is the same? Gas engine?
