97 6.5 with bad turbo
 

I have a 97 K2500 that the turbo went out on. There is a little bit of shaft play. I was told that Chevy made this turbo to where it can not be rebuilt. The VIN code is "F". I am wondering what type of after market turbos I can install on my truck and what modifications I would have to do. Any and all help is appreciated!

yes the GM8 turbo can be rebuilt i heared guys that have done it but not sure where they got the rebuilt kits from

Ok. I have yet to find one. The guy told me that with the engine code "F", that it wasnt able to be rebuilt. He could sell me a remanufactured turbo that can be rebuilt. Is he feeding me a bunch of shit or is he telling me the truth? Also, what kind of aftermarket turbos can I use and would I have to modify anything?
