ill effects of running NO thermostat?

you wont have heat in the winter

You need to run a thermostat. Thermostat does more than just warm the engine up it regulates the flow of water. If you don't run one you might not warm up to operating temp or you could over heat because the water will be flowing to fast through the radiator to get rid of the heat.

Engine oil will sludge up also.

Wondering why your asking?

truck would overcool, it wouldn't reach operating temp, creating more wear on the engine.

Red_Rattler 09-06-2011 08:37 PM

no, actually the truck will overheat... Like said it would bypass the rad so fast that it cant cool it

turbostang7 09-06-2011 09:25 PM

yep you remove the thermostat it will overheat bad!! takes longer at first to get up to temp but once its there it cannot cool the coolant because its moving to fast to cool it.
we have customers that try this all the time in their equipment, i have never seen one that it has actaully helped, it makes every one of them overheat.

hmm, i havent been running one for almost a year and have never over heated. even after driving 3 straight hours in texas heat multiple times. i have a new one to install just wasnt able to do it when i replaced the rad.

i plan on installing here soon though.
