6.2l vacuum pump ?
Hey everybody, I am swapping a 6.2l diesel out of an 87 suburban into a 1980 corvette. I want some kind of a vacuum pump to run the power brakes and the headlights. I have seen some for racing gas engines but they seemed to be made for intermittent use and not for constant use. I had a diesel IH scout with a pump on the alternator but it didn't produce much vacuum and would be expensive to replace. Any suggestions would help.

There is a stock vacuum pump for a 6.2 that goes in what looks like the distributor hole in the back of the engine and is run off the cam. The 6.5 has a stock one that bolts to the front of the engine and is ran by the belt. I don't know what kind of vacuum they make.

Yeah I know about the stock one I just didn't think it would have enough vacuum. I also thought that maybe if I put a big reservoir on that it could have enough reserve to run the brakes.

it will make plenty of vacuum if its good ford and dodge both used the same type vac pump for years ...single diaphram.

Thanks for the reply. it looks like I will use the stock pump along with with vacuum powered brakes.
