A/C Problems
Ok guys another question for you, I need to get my ac fixed before it starts getting warm. I bought the truck in oct. and it hasn't worked since then but when I first bought it the clutch would come on every now and again, now nothing, I tried adding refrigerant and nothing. Do I need to just replace the compressor and clutch all together and just start new???? When I turn my ac on the compressor nor the clutch does anything.:ouch:

how much refrigerant did you add and did have gauges when you did
|
I don't know I just bought a little can and put some in, I didn't have guages at the time, I need to go get some.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- When I put the gauges on there what should they be? ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Also I have a set of gauges that I use on my house a/c, can I buy fittings that will attach to the ports on the trucks ac at oriellys or autozone, does anyone sell something like that so I dont' have to buy another set of gauges. |
you need to put vacuum on it first and vacuum down the system to see if you do have leak an has old these trucks are the dryer and office tube most like need changing
with the clutch not kicking in maybe low on a/c one way test if to see if clutch work is jump the pressure switch witch on the dryer |
sweet I'll give it a try
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- if it works when I jump the pressure switch does that mean there is too much in there and it has high head pressure |
I jumped my press. switch, made the compressor kick on but still no cold air after about 5 min. Guess that means its low on freon, but seems like it would have worked without jumping the switch and just not be very cold.
|
nope you have to have freon psi to make press switch to work right
|
Guess I must have a leak somwhere, have-to take it to ac person to find it and recharge, although the can the press. switch is screwed into (dryer?) feels colder to the touch like there is freon in there.
|
You need 40 psi to get the low press switch to reset ( The switch on the can by passenger fire wall)
