Starts and idles but runs like crap
1997 GMC 3500 6.5 Power Diesel Truck starts and idles but when pedal is applied it spits, sputters, smokes white...IP replaced at 80,000 miles, turbo-booster replaced at 160,000 miles, PMD was moved when IP was replaced. Truck is now at 173,000 miles. Have tried draining the tank, put a new fuel filter in. Can anybody help me out?

sounds like you might have a head gasket issue
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- pull the dipstick and if it looks like it has a chocolate milk color to it, its probably that, also some other symptoms to check for are oil in the overflow tank, sometimes that will happen, bubbles will sometimes come back thru the radiator too with the engine running, pull the radiator cap and check for that. To me it sounds like a blown head gasket already tho |
First all are you getting any codes
make sure the Lp is working buy putting 12V right to lp see how it runs , it also could be bad PMD |
whats a pmd?

oil is fine no bubbles in radiator sometimes it will smooth out but not for long
