turbo help

i have a 93 bone stock gmc 2500 6.5 td i cant hear or feel the turbo kicking in when i pop the hood an give it throttle by hand the waste gate arm barely moves is there a way i can adjust this or free it up to move i have no gages as of yet any help would be great

you won't see it move just setting and may not it these turbo where not loud because of the exhaust being 2.5" clog cat and muffler now like rest of us exhaust is one first thing we place with 3" down pipe with 4" back that wake up the motor and turbo will whistle

now waste gate works off vacuum there is no adjustment
How do I check to see if I have wastegate problems? A quick test would be, at idle, see if the wastegate rod is pulled up into the actuator housing. If it is, that is a good start. Now, pull on the rod, and see if you are able to move it. Pulled in means there is vacuum. Suction is good, but how much? If you are able to move it, then you may not have sufficient vacuum to maintain boost.

To really test the system you should get a vacuum gauge to verify readings - with engine idling you should have 26"hg at the vacuum pump and 15"hg at the wastegate, but the above 'pull-test' will show if you're in the ball park

cool il have to get gages an check it out thanks for the info

Crazy 01-13-2011 09:43 AM

if you have exhaust leak you loose boost also you need tight exhaust and good clean air filter

ruffneck6969 01-13-2011 10:01 AM

no exhaust leaks an a brand new filter in it i just dont really feel it when iam accelerating an hardly any smoke out the pipe so just wondering if its working right il just have to get a boost gaudge an see

once you get gauge put in then you can make TM (turbo Master) where you adjust it 10psi boost but i would also put egt gauge also

ruffneck6969 01-13-2011 10:14 AM

ok once i get all that how do you make a turbo master
