6.2 starting problem

I have a 6.2 1 ton. The other day the guys were running down the road and they said it sputtered then died. I have good fuel at the filter and to the pump but very little, if any out the lines. Could the pump have gone out and still be putting out fuel or is it not the pump and possible something else. thanks for any help

maybe air in the fuel system put clear fuel line on the from return see if have any air bubbles and check the return line see they leaking

well if you are talking about little fuel come out the injector line you won't see high pressure once you crack the line you release the pressure

ok that makes scense but shouldnt fuel like spray out when i crack it not just dribble.

Crazy 12-11-2010 01:16 PM

nope it won't spray out it just dribbles

ok so use the clear hose and make sure i have a steady return of diesel not one with a bunch of bubbles.

right look at the return lines in between injectors make sure they are dry

ok so if they are leaking that will let air back into the system. Also if you run the truck on the right tank it has no power and will idle up and down like its starving for fuel. on the left tank it runs fine. so if the returns arent leaking and it has good return flow, could there be any other reason for it not to start.

ok didn't know you had 2 tanks right tank may have clog sock in the tank or lines leaking some where between tanks all it take is a pin hole in the line

ok i will post back if i find anything out. Thankyou man

ok found the problem i had an air leak. I went and bought clear hose and plumed that in place of the black hose so i could see the air bubbles. It turns out i had a dry rotted fuel line. Once i used the clear hose i could see the bubbles.

glad you found the problem 99% of the time with older 6.2 is fuel problem
