It is a 94 chevy, it has been sitting for awhile, and the guy he bought it from said he was driving down the road and it just died, he gave up on it. what I need to know is where do I start are there any common problems with these trucks that might be the problem here or do I just need to do basic checks of everything. I have already sugested a new set of bateries to make sure the voltige is up before we do anything else. just need some advice dont have alot of time at home and I dont want to waste time if I dont have to sorry I dont have any mmore info on the truck, If you guys need I will do my best to get it. thanks in advance for all your help.

See if it'll run now. someone correct me if 94 wasn't the first DS pump year.

Theres a black module mounted on the side of the pump called the PMD. A design flaw is that it gets too hot and craps out. It controls the pump. Google PMD relocation. If it does start then starts running shitty or dies, dump ice water on it and see if it runs again.

sounds like a good start I will give it a shot and see what happens thanx.

dont get the ss diesel pmd relocation kit. it just moves the pmd on the intake where it will crap out faster due to heat rising. pmds on the pump die because they get heat soaked when the engine is off. when it is on its cooled by diesel fuel in the pump. relocate the pmd to behind the front bumper gets good cooling there. pmdcable.com is a good place to find it.

thanx for the info Im more convinced that the PMD is the problem but is there a way to check it and make sure?

Woody35 09-15-2010 09:55 PM

get a confirmed good pmd and hook it up. those used pmds on ebay are a gamble fyi if your looking for a cheap route. better just to get a new dtech

if you have small fingers and are good with a dental pick you dont have to remove it but its extremley hard to get it unplugged without doing it. i did it besides it gave me a chance to clean all the carbo buildup that had accumalated after 13 years.
