So you bought the truck. I hope you like your 6.2 I know I like mine. For all the bad people talk about them there a pretty good engine. I know there not the big power houses of today but in all my experience they have plenty to do most jobs. The part that I love about mine is 24-26 mpg and thats on 35's with 4.10 gears no od with me driving.

Post pics I would like to see it. Just as soon as I am not an idiot I will post some picks of my stuff.

Thats a pretty decent looking old truck. I love the old square body chevy.

The old 6.2's aren't bad running engines. I think the thing that gets most people on them is they try comparing them to new diesel's. It's just simply not a fair comparison. The 6.2 is a 28 year old N/A diesel designed during the fuel crunch of the 80's. My 83 4x4 on 35's gets 24-26 mpg so I think they did the job they where designed to do good.

There is a couple of things you need to watch on the truck to keep it running good. 1 make sure the harmonic balancer stays in good shape. Check it from time to time and if the rubber ring is cracking or bulging out replace it. If you have about $400 laying around put a fluid damper on it. The problems you hear about with broken cranks on the 6.2 comes from the damper being bad. 2 Watch how hot you get it pulling a load. If it starts to get hot back off of it. The 6.2 is not a idiot prof engine if it gets to hot and you stay in it it will blow itself up. The only other thing you may think about but is not necessary is to put main studs in it. If you are not pulling real heavy load it probably wont mater it would just be insurance against main cap walk.

well it will be hauling whatever fits on the bed cant say i wont haul it till i c it lol if its metal and cheap or freei haul to scrap yard lol it will definitly c cars where would i get another balancer if it is bad have to look at it

Most likely its not bad but its just a precaution to check it from time to time because if it goes bad its busting a crank. A stock on is just a of the auto parts store shelf item. If you want to spend the money and buy a fluid damper heath diesel sells them for about $450. Every one I ever own will get a fluid damper on it. I have never had one break a crank but with a fluid damper you never have to think about it again.
