Excessive Crank To Start

My truck has to crank for a long time before starting.I have tested my glow plug controller it was good and i have changed my glow and they all work. What else would cause this could it be the injectors? Or should i be looking at something else.

possibly a lift pump problem or getting air in the system

There are a few things that could cause this. Air in the line, Weak injectors, Weak injection pump, Low compression. How fast does the truck crank? If it is just a little slow it may not start. How many miles are on it? After it starts how does it run?

how much white smoke once it starts up?

about 260 000kms I have replaced the lift pump a few months back.It cranks over good. It runs good after it starts no issues there.there is a little bit of white smoke when it first starts.I have drained the air out of the system at the t handle and at the filter no change to the starting problem.

If you rev the engine to 2,000 rpm and hold it there for a little bit then back of the throttle slowly dose it return to idle smoothly or does it drop off sharply?

When I rev it up and hold it for a bit it will return to an idle smoothly. Is there any way to check the injectors with out removing then?

no not really. pour some 2 stroke or 30 weight non detergent oil to see if starting improves. make sure timing is advancing. unplug temp sensor on top of engine. computer thinks its -40 out and advances timing all the way.

Tried disconnecting the sensor did change anything. How much oil should i add?
