Turbo350 anyone?

Looking to put together a 6.2 in my sons 88 wrangler.

Here is the rub. the rear drive shaft is already crazy short. also he's not a fan sticks, so the shortest tranny is a 350/205 combo.

Just looking to see if anyone has had ok luck with a 350 behind the 6.2. Power isnt a real issue we plan on making it a fry daddy burner.(as he works at Mickeydees) We've been watching alot of your forums here on do it yourself bio kits.

Ive done all my own wrenching for years but mostly on gasser 350's. we dont mind the torch and welding we also plan a 12" stretch between the axles 3"up front and 9" out back.

I know you can build the snot outta 350 for hp just not sure how well it holds up to a low end torque

Thanks
Harry & son

if he's not towing alot you should be fine with a 350. They put 700r4 behind some of them from the factory and they worked ok. I personally I think the 350 is more durable than the 700 so I think it should hold up good.

with a 6.2 it should be good. just remember to put the diesel torque converter in there and to upgrade the weak points a bit. im not a tranny expert so i wouldnt know what the weak points are though

Ya, no towing for this kid! Its a to and from work/school/trail rig only. It has tow points only.

Sounds good thanks! We drive it into the garage soon as school is out. So now we start rounding up all the goodies!

You may need to look into the modulator set up. We put a 350 in a two wheel drive truck and it wouldnt shift right because the vac always is high from the vac pump. It doesnt vary with throttle pos like a gas burner does. I'm dealing with the problem now cause I put a TH400/NP205 set up in my Cummins Dodge.:humm:

I thought a 350 had a kick down cable and 400 had a vac. modulator?

Your right

The 350 still has a modulator. Not exactly sure what it controls but it does have one. Just wanted to give you a heads up cause I posted 4-5 questions on different sites and no one every said anything about modulator problems. I'm not a expert just tryin to help. :humm:
