HOw much boost can i build

What is the most boost you can hold in a 6.5 motor and safe to run it at..How much until shit starts breaking?

well in a stock compression 6.5 i would not go over 14 psi. with headstuds maybe 16 17 psi max. with compression reduced to 18:1 i would not go over 30 psi.

Totally stock i would not go over 9psi, your truck is supposed to defuel at 10psi, mine defuels more like 11psi. On a chipped rig you can go up to 15psi, anything over that is not efficient for these turbos....

you might be lucky to build 13 with a stock charger

Woody35 02-11-2010 11:01 PM

are you kidding me. people put out 15 psi all day on the gm x series of turbos. some even go to 17. one idiot went to 20. where you getting this info

I would not go over 15. Had a friend clamp waste gate shut on a 92 6.5 it would bury a 15psi gauge. It ran for along time like that till he sold it. I would not recommend doing that.

i would not recommend it either. especially if you tow or have lots of hills. once you put a large load on that engine without a operating wastegate it will start to overboost or hopefully eventually defuel. do yourself a favor and run a wastegate.

Woody35 02-14-2010 02:38 PM
