1993 6.5TD What to do?

Hello All,

Sorry for keep adding threads about my problems, but I guess some of you been through the same things as I'm going through with this truck. I had a valve cover oil leak, and being unemployed didnt have too much money to work with. So decided to do the job myself, so I bought the " Right Stuff" RTV for the valve covers, I guess the truck never came with gaskets form the factory. Well took me about 14 hours, to do the job, I had hard time getting them inn, due to all the crap was in the way. I removed the intake manifold, the fuel lines, the alternator, and most of the stuff that was in the way. But still with RTV on the valve covers I had hard time getting them on. Also the scare I got about the RTV in the Threads will cause damage to the casing, or some valve locking. It was hard and I did get RTV in the threads of course, well the next day I got everything back on, and started the truck. I went for a ride, and afterwards started checking for leaks. Sure enough there was a leak, and I was so pissed off and tired I couldn't tell if it was diesel or oil. I talked to Troy AKA hotcummins, he gave good advice. I went back two days later, and pretty much rulled out the diesel leak, it was oil from the valve covers. I called my local diesel shop H & H Diesel, of Milton, WA, and got a quote for about $450-500 for the repair. I really dont know waht to do, because I know the valve covers are distorted and maybe I should get new ones and put the gasket inn, instead of RTV. Or maybe have the pro's to do the job. I dont know so mad, I cant drive my truck, and dont know if I should attempt to do the repair again. Maybe the hell with it have the shop do it, please help, maybe an advice could lead me to the right direction. Thanks a lot and sorry for the long explanation.
