Bleeding fuel lines after injector replace
I am finally getting down to the end of replacing the injectors on my 93. SO basically the intake is on the injectors are in etc. I dont have the turbo on yet but I figured I would need to bleed the fuel system before re-installing the turbo. I started by cracking 1 injector and seeing if I got any fuel. I cranked on the truck for some time but I dont seem to be getting much. Can anyone give me the specific steps for bleeding the fuel system. I gather that there is a couple ways to jump the lift pump but Im unsure how. Any help is appreciated!! :argh:

Make sure it's bled to the injector pump first. Think you can bump the starter and the lift pump will stay kicked in. Then you can do the injector lines. To do that, leave the lines tightened, crank the engine for 3 sec, loosen a line till the air purges out. then repeat steps 1-3.

How do I check for air at the injection pump? I have fuel at the filter bleeder on intake. I have read you can "hotwire" the lift pump is this possible and can anyone explain it? I just had the lift pump replaced but I dont think Im hearing it when I turn on the key. I am completely new to this diesel thing so you gotta explain things to me like Im retarded. Also how do I disable the glow plugs from operating during the bleeding process to save batteries.

i would disable the glow plugs just to back sure they dont fire when you arent ready

Should be a primary and secondary fuel filter. On the secondary, loosen the line coming off the filter and going into the injector pump. Bump the starter to engauge the lift pump, and when clear fuel squirts out, re-tighten the line.

Thanks all! I bled lines to what seemed like good amounts of fuel at each injector. I plugged in the necessary electronics and she fired right off. I dont have the turbo or air intake on the truck yet even! :rocking: I shut it off immediately but it seemed to want to take right off. Coolest part was all the black smoke pouring out the exhaust manifold from under the hood!

Primary filter for the 6.5 isn't really a filter there is a 70 micron strainer "sock" in tank, then 5 micron filter manager on engine, +12V to pin G on ALDL connector in OBD-I 6.5s will make the lift pump run as long as power is applied, do this once fuel filter is changed with vent cap on top of filter open, until no more air, after that the IP will eventually self purge
