MY TRUCK WON'T START PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Chevy K3500 6.5L Turbo Diesel 4x4.

The truck was running fine then I stopped for a few minutes and now the truck just won't start. ignition goes into accessory, the glow plugs warm up but the truck doesn't turn over. I need help cause I'm stranded on the interstate with a boat hitched to my dually.

Thanks MAX

There's going to be a relatively small wire going from the ignition switch to the "S" terminal on the starter.

As long as that wire has voltage, provided that the batteries are good and the starter cables are good, the starter will crank.

Take a jumper wire, and jumper battery positive to that little terminal. It should spin over.

If not, try hitting the starter with a hammer a few times and trying again.

if you got somebody with you they can crank while you peck starter.

Starter tapping didn't work. We couldn't check the wires cause of the rain. Would an over heated PMD be a cause?

PMD would only cause no fuel to do to injectors. It wouldn't cause the problem of the truck not cranking.

Any smoke when cranking?

Also feel free to more than "tap" that starter my truck sometimes wont start I can hear the starter click but no action. Usually a good hard thud gets it moving if not like the last guy said try having someone bump the key repeatedly at safe intervals while you hit the starter.

Sorry its late its not cranking heir go no smoke:argh:

I have also heard of pouring water on the injection pump as it can over heat as well I think. But im also a shaeyard mechanic dependent on these kind of sites so try at your own risk.

If the jumper wire trick doesn't work, possibility that a brush is gone or one of the cables that's bolted to it is burnt in two. In which case your needing a new starter.

Yup, the starter took a crap on me! A little elbow grease and a 24 hour autozone and a 30 min walk one way and back and 5.5 hours later the truck is running. Thank god for wireless internet or we wouldn't have been able to do shit!....lol Thanks for all your help guys. without your imput we would probably be sitting in the truck waiting for a tow truck!

Good deal :U:

Glad you got the truck back up and running! :choochoo:
