93 chevy 6.5 turbo diesel starting problem
My truck starts and runs good, but if I let it set for about an hour or so after driving, it starts, and then acts like it runs out of fuel. I can hold the pedal down and crank it over for a few seconds, and it will eventually restart. If I drive it and then let it set for 2 or 3 hours, it starts and runs fine. If I shut it off for a short period, it will start normally also. I don't understand why it will not start correctly after an hour and a half, but let it set longer and it starts fine. Anyone else have this problem?

probably PMD

Hey thanks Man. Do you think the PMD is just getting hot, and won't start right until it cools down, or the PMD is going out?
|
if it start missing, its already gone, no bringing it back.
Try testing by pouring cold water over the IP when it starts being a biotch and see if it quits being a tramp. -------------edit------------------------------------- Its a 93 w/ mechanical IP. (That means it doesn't have a PMD) Have you checked the fuel filter? |
im a dumbass i didnt look at your year. you can see if your injection pump is good by doing the 2000 RPM test. slowly bring the RPMs up to 2000 and hold it there for 5 seconds. then slowly bring it back down to idle again. if you do this smoothly with no surging or missing your IP should be good. if it cant the IP is probably on its way out

yeah I defaulted to PMD failure too. The RPM test is a good idea, but I'd check filter first.
