6.5 turbo upgrade

Hey guys

Im new to the forums and i have a 96 6.5l turbo diesel gmc, its got a front mount intercooler and i turned up the boost but i would still like to get abit more power from it, i just want to know if a Holset hx35w turbo would be much of an upgrade for my motor? im going to get the marine injectors, what else do you guys reccommend getting for some decent power?
thanks Mitch

:howdy:

Advance the timing a bit is the only thing that comes to mind right now.

will the holset hx35w make any difference over the stock turbo? ill be running marine injectors so whats the max boost can i run my truck at for a daily driver?

hopefully you have some headstuds in it or you going to blow a head gasket.

right now your truck is making 7-9 PSI max with your stock turbo. check the specs on both turbos and compare the size. if the HX-35 has a similar size it should spool quick enough as stock but make more boost. 15-16 PSI MAX with head studs and heavy duty gaskets is what i would do

Check my signature for all my mods. I hit 20psi with a mechanical wastegate on my stock turbo then turned it down to 13 max boost. I am going to rebuild my engine soon and do head studs with oversized gasket and 18:1 compression ratio, along with some other goodies :-)!!!

As far as the holset turbo goes, you ought to make more boost but whether or not it is efficiently, that would require one to look at some Turbo Pressure Maps.
