1997 Chevy 6.5 help

Hey all, I'm looking at buying my first diesel. There is a 1997 chevy 6.5 diesel for sale near me with 27k original miles. They are asking about $20k for it. Is this too expensive? Also can you tell me some info about these engines? Not too familiar with them. Thank you in advance

What are you getting it for, heavy towing/ hauling, easy daily driving.....? There is the matter of the PMD. First thing is to get a relocation kit for that, as it will eventually start to act up on you and cause you some headaches. In its current location, it will over heat and cause stalling, hard start issues, and no start issues. Some 6.5 owners have great luck with those rigs, others have crappy luck. Some haul/ tow heavy with great success, and some complain about engine prone failures. Luck of the draw I guess. Lots of info on these on-line. Do your research first before making your decision. They're not known for high hp/ tq,
