6.2 leak from tank.
I noticed after parked for 8 hours I left a 6" diesel stain at work. Its dripping from the fuel tank shield.
Has anyone else had a leak from this area and what's the most likely cause? Thanks! 91 CK2500 4x4 6.2, SM465, 4:10 14 Bolt |
Dirt between the tank skid plate and tank has caused a hole in the tank. temp fix is drop the skid plate, find the leak, and fix it, or replace the tank. I have fixed pin holes with Seal All . Clean the area good with sandpaper, put a small amount of seal all on your finger, ,push it into the area that is leaking and hold it there for a few minutes, clean the surrounding area again and add a second coat. Often a single pin hole can be sealed with a sheet metal screw and seal all. Repairs have lasted 2 and 3 years for me on gas tanks and diesel tanks.

Can you tell me how to remove the shield without dropping the fuel tank? The two straps I see look like they are holding both together.. |
