6.2 diesel turn key nothing

I got a 1983 6.2 k10 diesel so i grounded the wires on the back of the alternator fried the wires down by the starter. Replaced those it restored power to the ignition but when i turn the key nothing happens then the cab power dies then after a few moments its restored. I kmow its got to be a starter relag somewhere where exactly is it located?

There is no starter relay unless someone put one on and it could be that you fried the ignition switch under the dash causing the issue.

Unhook the starter wire to the solenoid on the starter and engage the key switch make sure you are getting power to the starter this is where I would start.

Mayhem is there anyway i can call you tomarrow to explain i could message you my number? Today i got power back on the fuse panel i jumped the solenoid and it was turning over. I had trouble bleeding the system with the new electric fuel pump nothing but foam came out the valve soon there after boom power is dead to the cab and the fuse panel? What the heck is going on?

I agree with Mayhem on ignition switch. I've had to replace two on my old chevys this winter. Both started acting up with similar issues. Intermittent power loss.

Did you delete the manual pump to go electric?

I did replace it still it acts up my buddy did something with the fusible link on the firewall it acted noramal. He took a test light and jumped the 2 studs. I went back tonight and tried it with the new ignition switch and nothing happened i jumped the solenoid on the starter then power was restored to the cab but when i took the battery leads of and reconnected them it did the same thing...

Sounds like you need to start tracing wires starting with the alternator sounds like something is shorting out.

Any idea where the 3 wires that come off the main starter stud? Where do they go?
