14bolt rear end wear on axle shafts
 

Im replacing axle seals on my 98 k2500 and I noticed the right axle shaft has some odd wear, its is worn in a lemon like shape towards the end, when I measured it it was 1.5 inches one way and when i spun the axle 90 degrees and measured it again I got 1.3 inches. It is worn nearly 2/10ths of a inch at this end. What could have caused this? Is this axle still good to use as my rear end is a 14bolt full floater? Should this hold up to heavy towing?

I have never before seen anything like that almost like acid ate away at it I don't believe using it would cause any problems it's not like the bearings ride on it.
