White smoke upon startup is a sign of glow plug issues and when starting you shouldn't use the starter more than 10-15 seconds with a 30-40 second minimum cool down period or you will be replacing or rebuilding the starter.

Thanks for the response. Temperature here 20 to 40. My glow plug light only stays on for 5 to 10 seconds. Never over 10. That's not long enough is it?

No ten seconds isn't long enough at 40* my gp's stay on at least 30-45 seconds and then afterglow is 20-30 seconds more (afterglow is the gp's come on after truck starts) I would try another temperature sensor this controls the GP relay, use AC/Delco only as with all sensors for these trucks part store sensors are junk out of the box,
