Temps

What is a safe range for the engine (coolant) temp? The gauge shows redline at 260 degrees. That seems a little high to me. I am pulling a trailer and seeing 210 most of the time, Does anyone run consistently in the 220-230 range without problems? I am heading to the desert soon.

Thanks and thanks for the help on lubricity,

Tom

220-230 is way to hot especially heading the desert use only AC/DELCO thermostats I would start with these and check radiator for scale build up along with making sure the fins on the outside are clean if still running that hot you may want to replace the fan clutch the ones from NAPA are good I've had mine on for about 4 years I've towed 10,000+ lbs in the summer time and never hit 200*.

I personally don't tow much with mine. However I can tell you that you should never let your temperature go over 210. You will get engine damage. I have been reading these forums for over 2 years now and that is the concensus.
