Lubricity

An independent study was done on fuel additives for pre 2007 diesel engines, when they changed to ULSD.

One of the additives they tested was 2 cycle oil, which did better than many of the other additives. Has anyone used 2 cycle oil as an additive for lubricity? Have you had any problems with it?

I am towing a travel trailer across country and am concerned with puttting stuff in my tank that does more harm than good.

The study on lubricity was done with "raw" diesel, which I assume means before any additives are added by the major fuel companies. Does anyone know if the major fuel companies add anything to help the lubricity of the old engines"

Thanks for any help

No the ULSD doesn't have have the lubricity as diesel of old I use Pennziol synthetic 2 stroke marine oil in mine I run 1ounce per gallon of fuel if you have electronic injection you may taper it back to 1/2 ounce per gallon the company that sold me my IP recommend this 4 years ago and have yet to have any issues.

I've been running Walmart brand two stroke at 1/2 oz per gallon. I use it in my 6.5 and two 12v cummins trucks, no issues yet.
