1995 GMC C3500 6.5 Ac question
I have a 1995 GMC C3500 in the garage I have been tinkering with. The thing didn't come with factory AC.. Stupid.. I don't have hardly anything in the truck and its coming together nicely.. I drove it around some this summer and man was it HOT! I have no idea where the ac even mounts at. What little research Ive done I've seen pics with is on the left and right sides depending on set up. Now.. I have ok knowledge of ac systems.. I believe at one time or another Ive replaced every part one one.. I am seriously considering adding ac to this truck. It is not my daily driver and Im in no hurry to get it done.. even if I have to buy one piece every payday till spring. My question is.. can someone post up some pics of the ac system component placement? I don't even have the bracket for the ac pump. It looks to me from most of the pics Ive seen its a pancake compressor that sets on top of the passenger side of the motor.. well my vac pump is setting there. Ive seen lots of posts about eliminating the vac pump and installing a manual control which im considering also. If I remove my Vac pump can I just mount the ac compressor in its place? Im making a trip to my local pick and pull soon to start scrounging for parts.. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Give a day or two and I will get a picture of the bracket on mine and good luck finding one the high scrap metal prices of a few years ago have made these trucks hard to find in the junkyards and if they are there they are picked clean. |
some pics would be great.. this is my first diesel truck.. really just a project truck to pay around with.. youre probably right about the new parts. I wouldnt want to install a leaking evaporator or condenser. I was planning on a new compressor anyway. Thanks for the quick reply!
