Looking for an early rebuilt 4L80E
 

I am in the market for a rebuilt 4L80E. I have a 1991 4x4 GMC V2500 6.2l Suburban. I have been looking on line for transmissions at a reasonable price. I have seen prices ranging from $895 to $3000 for a stock rebuild. The $895 rebuild almost sounds too good to be true and $3000 is way out of my price range. I don't need anything special, I tow some ATV's or a pop-up camper once in a while. I just need it to be reliable as I put nearly 2000 miles on the truck a month. I feel that I should be able to get a quality rebuilt transmission for around $1500.
What are your thoughts?
And who would you trust to purchase a transmission from for around that price?

What part of the country are you in? i believe we do rebuilt including R&R on those for like $2200 so $1500 for just a bench build is inline with our work. $900 could just be a patch built trans meaning they pull it apart, fix the problems, and reassemble with new seals. We do allot of that stuff to. Just depends on budget.

heads up, if you have a bolt on connector you should be re-wiring it with the new updated snap in

I am in Eagle Colorado. I am planning on installing a Tru-cool transmission cooler (It is my understanding that is a good mod to do). I hear that the 4L80E is an extremely tough transmission. I am wondering why it's on its second transmission. The transmission that's in it has less than 100k miles on it. I keep up on flushes and filter changes.

4L80's are very strong. But they are getting old, hell yours is 25 years old. Do you know what 25 year old rubber looks like? :td:
