1994 6.5TD IP problems.

The old IP locked up so I replaced it with a remanufactured Standyne IP. My problem is I'm getting fuel to filter but not to IP. At the return check vavle is a very slow slow slow drizzle not even really a drizzle. Is there something you must do to prime the new IP? Please any tips will help. Thanks.

if it isnt returning much fuel chances are your lift pump is weak and not producing enough pressure to overcome the regulator. But that is probably not why it is not starting. :humm: check for codes? did you leave the injector ends of the lines loose and crank it over to purge air? it helps to hold it to the floor while purging.

So I must purge the fuel system before IP will take fuel?

if there is air in the injector lines it is compressable and the pump may or may not be able to open the poppet in the injector. always best to leave them all a little less than finger tight and have someone watch while cranking full throttle. The ones that start squirting out and ready to be tightened. Also helpful to hotwire the lift pump during these processes to aid in fuel delivery.

Awesome. Gonna go try this. Thank you.

I'm only getting fuel to 5&7 injectors. My IP finally started taking fuel. When I take the main fuel line off it super bubbly. But the fuel coming out of injectors isn't bubbly at all.

if its bubbly at the main (inlet to pump) it is ingesting air from before the lift pump somewhere or much less likely it is still processing the air you have let into the system opening and removing lines. :humm:

if you have fuel to two injectors you are starting to get the pump filled and primed but you should really deal with the air leak pre lift pump. unfortunately those can be incredibly difficult to find.
