I have a 1994 k2500 6.5 non turbo which i had a few questions about because i know the non turbo have more compression i think than the turbo engine
NA - 21-3-1
Turbo - 20-3-1
is what i found which leads me to my first question in order to turbo besides having to have manifold ect. would you need head studs for a NA?
Another thing does anyone know of an in cab tuner NOT A CHIP but a tuner for a 6.5?
Also is there any way to turn up a computerized injection pump with pmd?

number 9 resistor "turns up" the pmd. 94 has to have a chip because it has a removable prom. there are other smarter options for some other 94-95 vehicles but noone put that effort into 6.5's. all of these engines "should" get better bolts/studs. But it is most certainly not a requirement.

You can get it tuned but there is no tuner available and the only way to turn it up is a tuned ecm.

The #9 calibration resistor can trick it into putting out a bit more fuel but I've always heard it was less than a CC. All new pmd's typically come with a #9 if bought for a reputable 6.5 shop.

You can swap a turbo and manifolds on it and get pretty close to most stock 6.5l power levels. If you really want power you need to get your precups sent in and ported, larger turbo, and a lot more work. Head studs will be the least of your worries at that point. Machining pre cups will get your compression into the 20:1 range.

Your transmission will be your main limiting factor if it is a 4l60

What would happen if the resistor was taken out? would it run? would it smoke more/less?

no resistor defaults to low fuel setting. why do people ask that every damn time this comes up? do some -some- research. please. :argh:
