1986 6.2 suburban runs perfect at idle but after being revved up it dies on release

New to this forum but I have a 1986 K20 6.2 Chevy Suburban and everything is running fine at idle but once you step on it and let off the gas it stalls every time if you don't reapply the gas, replaced fuel filter, checked the output on fuel pump to filter and to the injection pump is a good flow. Any ideas to problem shoot would be very helpful thanks!

"Applying gas" well maybe that is the problem :)

Seriously how did you check the fuel delivery, delivery at idle "no load" is different when applying pressure on the accelerator pedal,.

I'd put a tee in the line to the IP inlet, plumbed to a gauge and watch what happens to pressure on the gauge when you accelerate, if it drops your lift pump may have a problem, or you may be sucking air, or a plugged "sock"/pickup in the fuel tank restricting sustained flow, truck your vintage that is a possibility.

If your fuel delivery test is not showing a drop off to the IP after that you are looking at a problem in the IP, maybe a weak solenoid in the shutdown solenoid ?

Here https://www.dieselbombers.com/chevy-...ir-manual.html is a link to a military tech manual that gives good info for the mechanical IPs used in 6.2s and older non EFI 6.5s

Thanks for the reply and will definitely check the pressure to the ip next, but put a clear hose from the lift pump to the filter and saw no bubbles after revving, but it will hold a consistent flow when the throttle is fully applied but still has low power, but once you let go of the throttle it immediately dies, I think the sock on the sending unit would be the next spot to check after the pressure on the line, thanks again will comeback here results on it!
