Default 1994 6.5 no start new to me truck

okay guys looking for some help got this 94 half apart with boxes of new parts installed new timing chain/sprockets balancer, glowplugs, starter, cables, battery, pdm behind grill) i cranked it with 7 glow plugs out until i had fuel coming out put them in mind you i have no intake on the truck because i tore it back down to double cheack all the timing after the no start. anyways see fuel mist out glowplug holes. reinstall. crank it it fires agaist the starter mostly and blows lots of white is smoke sometimesits black and runs maybe 5 secs i can just hear the diesel knoock starting and it dies. i removed the plunger on the solenoid tried a new pdm, checked all grounds the glow plugs glow orange. i have probably a hour or crank fires worth in this thing and thats all i can get it to do crank sensor is new also. will once in a while fire with optical unplugged will not fire at all with crank sensor unplugged. i have pulled a few glow plugs and find that theres no feul continue cranking then i get fuel. glow plugs back in fire dies. i think the ip is bad i checked all screens everywere. lift pump is jumped. i think maybe the guy degreased the ip and it sat for almost a yr and might have had water in it the truck was said running before. rather swap it to gas before dropping a $700 pump in it and not fix it

Did you use a scribe mark to set the IP in position?

Default ip

the ip was off the truck when I got it. the block has like 3 scripes and none on the ip. I tried bumping it back and fort a little. maybe ill take the tech 2 home from work. for a night. its got 185k on it so im sure its been replaced. trucks from texas with no rust so its worth putting money into jjust not sur the 6.5 is worth the money

I would definitely stick with the 6.5

I really like mine. Dump some money in them to get them up to snuff and drive them for a long time.

Maybe these GM training manuals will help..

6.5L V8 Turbo Diesel Engine
Introduction to 6.5TD.

The DS4 electronic manual (attached) only covers stuff not already covered in the above DB2 manual...

Good Luck
