Tow haul on a 97

This may seem like a no brainer but is my 97 1500 silverado turbo diesel supposed to have a tow haul. Couldn't find much information online about it and I've never owned a truck with a 4l80e transmission or a Diesel engine that did not have tow haul however this is the first heavy half ton diesel I've ever owned and the oldest automatic I've ever owned so I'm not sure as to weather it should have one or not. The previous owner changed the steering column on this truck and had no interest in towing or doing much with the truck so I thought if the column he put on didn't have a switch for it he may have left it unhooked. Can anyone tell me where I would find the plug if there is one or if it's just a wild goose chase and it never came out on these trucks. Any information would be helpful not having a tow haul and having to pull heavy loads in 3rd has really been a pain in my rear since owning this truck

Are you talking about the tow/haul button that is on the newer trucks? If so I have never seen or heard of one on a 6.5 with a 4L80, i just kick it out of OD and mine does great. I had a 97 also and it didnt have one either.

Yea like I said all the trucks older than 99 I've had were standards and my 99 had the tow haul with the 4l80e so did my duramax Alison and my grandfathers 2000 has it with the 4l80e gas burner and I have been pulling with it kicked out of overdrive in third but the tow haul shift points always seemed better. Mine drops speed like a rock on the interstate when it drops a gear on the hills (newly rebuilt transmission less than 3k on it)
I was just checking if it was supposed to have one I pull my trailer 1000 miles at a time and it would have been nice to get above 65 once in awhile

The duramax was absolute heaven hooked to a trailer (I miss her so bad) couldn't even tell it was back there without strong winds
...The 6.5 not so much
