Now smoking
Ok I have a 93 6.5 turbo. Was running good put fuel treatment in it now not running good. Smokes when I hold a steady speed but don't if I press on throttle to go faster but as I back off to stay at a speed it spudders and starts smoking again until I give it more or back off the throttle. The guy I got truck from told me that he turned up the injection pump is it possible that it is over loading now that the fuel system is clean now after using treatment?

What did you put in it and how much? I've heard of turned up pumps leading to runaway situations but not what you described.
Howes lubricator diesel treatment One ounce to 5 gallons
What color is the smoke?
White blue
Black would be excess fuel.
White is usually coolant and blue is usually oil. However if you have an injector stuck open/failing you might get white/blue smoke from raw liquid fuel? Does it have an engine miss? |
Yes it is missing
Is there a way to figure out what one is bad. Or should I replace them all. They are from the factory
Injectors need rebuilt/replaced every 100,000 miles,so if yours are over that you should get them done.
Replace with injectors that have ONLY Bosch,Delphi or Stanadyne nozzles and only standard duty injectors-marine injectors only cost you fuel with NO increase in power. To check which injector is bad you can loosen/tighten each injector fuel line 1 at a time and pay attention to which ones make little to no difference in how it runs-be careful of moving parts. |
Ok I'll try checking injectors I'll let you know when i know
