6.2L Turbo Exhaust Question

Just bought me a 1990 6.2L Sub V1500

I have a few different questions on it but instead of posting all them in one thread I decided to make a few different ones...I'm new to the forum so if this is a no-no please let me know.

My question here is that the Burb' I bought came with a 6.2L Banks Turbo. The guy I bought it from said that the exhaust on it was also a Banks engineering turbo exhaust. My friend says it sounds like it has a leak in it...I kinda wanted to put a new exhaust on her because she's kinda quiet which in an of itself isn't a bad thing but I also know that sometimes opening up the exhaust will give you a performance boost. I've read around a few different places that the 6.2 turbos work great with a straight pipe....is this so?

Also, like I previously stated, I am new to this forum so any and all noob advice is appreciated. This is my first diesel as well. If any of you know of any other forums out there that'd be more specific to my vehicle all input is appreciated.

TIA!:c:
