issues with 4x4

Hey y'all its been a while since my last post everything was working fine and dandy until the other day I went to put my truck in 4 hi and it locked in I started to back out of the driveway and I heard a snap which sounded like it was coming from the front end and haven't had 4wd since no 4 hi no 4 lo nothing anyone have any input on what it could be? Cv axles still look good and intact its just not locking in. The truck is a 97 k3500 dually with 4x4 shifter in the floor

Hey willis Check the Fuse if good it more than likely is the actuator

Well the fuse isn't there but it worked before this and I got to looking and the place where the fuse goes in the fuse box is broken but still doesn't explain y it worked until this happened because its been that way since I've owned the truck

I'd pull the connector on the actuator and make sure its getting power. If so. Unscrew the actuator put your truck in 4wd
with the key on. You will see it extend if its working properly.

On a 97 you may have to pull the skid plate get to it. Only takes a minute to get the actuator out.

When I had my 94 I had to put a cable actuator on it (fire damage). Worked fine. I think it as Pullpal or some thing similar.

Anyone have a diagram of what I'm looking for? Can someone explain where exactly it is? I've never had to mess with this before so I'm kinda lost

The actuator is on the front of your front end gear box. Look for two wires coming out of a large hex nut looking thing. This will be on the passenger side on the gearbox.

Follow the wires back 6 or 8 inches to the connector and test for power there. If no power then your problem is probably in the broken fuse box you describe.

if you have power you need to test the actuator. The hex nut thing is your actuator. Unscrew it and it will pull out of the gearbox housing. It works like a little hydraulic cylinder. When powered the center will extend out. If it doesn't you need a new one.

If you have the big skid plate in front of the front end just take it off and youll see what your looking for.
