where can you buy an optical sensor

been looking around for an optical sensor. Where can you buy one at.

Getting codes 17 18 and 35. Removed the optical sensor electronic noise filter and put ferrite core on wires and still getting codes. Truck will not idle, keeps shutting off and going into limp mode. If I leave the optical sensor unhooked truck runs in limp mode with codes 17 18 and 35 but will idle and does not shut off. cleaned ground on IP and also added extra ground with no luck. Going to take optical sensor out and clean it but would like to know if you can buy these somewhere.

I'm sure some one else will chime in on were to buy one but taking one out and cleaning it will do the job most the time. The trick is getting out and back in the EXACT location not a easy job,I think you need special tools.I might be wrong about the tools.:c:

Best place to shop for a reasonably priced good used OS is your local diesel service center or IP rebuilder-google stanadyne service centers and find one in your area.

got my optical sensor out and cleaned it in acetone. It was a lot easier then you may think getting it out. Really no special tools needed, other then the T-27 and T-40 torx screwdriver. Main thing to remember is to scratch a line before removing sensor. I used a scratch awl because a knife or screw driver did not leave much of a line. Sensor went back in rather easy. Just watch the o ring does not get damaged while removing and installing.

After getting the air out of the lines and pump, finally got truck started. It idled great and did not stall. Only had a couple sputters when first started, but that may have been air in system.

Went for a 20 mile ride with no problems. Truck ran better then it has for months. Hope it stays this way. Will repost in a few days to let you know if still going good.
