looking for a 10 micron inline filter / screen

I am assembling my 3 micron fuel filter system. I was thinking it would be good to put some sort of a screen before the filters to catch larger stuff and extend their life. I am having a hard time finding a small micron screen that's inline.

1- is this overkill because the fuel sending unit already has a screen?
2- is this even feasible because small micron meshes don't come like that?
3- does anyone know a product that will provide a low micron screen?

Thanks in advance all.

I would say that what you have pictured is ideal if you install it pre LP.

When you start talking micron you are limited to a different media than a screen-paper type filters are what would be in order.

The route I would take would be a primary 5 micron filter with a water trap/drain and then go to the 3 micron filter in a 2 filter system.

My intent was to leave the OEM filter and bowel in place as normal for purposes of separating water from diesel.

Could you please point me in the right direction for the "water trap/drain"?

I can't find any quick examples right now,but any diesel fiter with a drain tap at the bottom would be a water separator filter.
