horrible fuel leak
Ok guys i have an old 6.2 out of an 82 van. I drove to work today everything was fine til i put it in park and sat at an idle. It started idling pretty rough. On my way in i noticed i had a puddle under my truck so i opened the hood to find out it is leaking from the metal fuel line in between the line and nut it was not a slight leak it was squirting out fuel all over everything and was running horribly. Could my injector be bad? I havent had any time to work on it. Any ideas would help. It wasnt leaking before this thats why im wondering if my injector has failed. Please help. Thanks

Need a picture to decipher what line you are talking about?
Injector line? injector return line? IP feed line? |
It is the metal line that runs from injection pump to the injector. Im guessing injector line. Its not a return line and it comes from the injection pump not feeds to it. But like i said its spraying out like a geyser in between the line and the fitting. Almost as if i forgot to tighten it but again it wasnt leakin before
|
Better loosen it off and tighten it again-otherwise you might need a new line and/or injector?
Could be that you damaged it or it has debris in the sealing area? Or it just isn't tight yet? |
The thing is i didnt loosen it i havnt messed with them cuz everything was running great. Idk maybe it worked itself loose im just a bit confused an it dont help that i havnt yet had time to tinker with it
|
Could just be a fatigue in the metal line?
Or it wasn't tight enough to start with? |
K ill go tinker a bit
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Well i took the line off it broke free easy but didnt seem that loose so i looked at it looked fine put her back on tightened it goodntight then i killd my batteries startn it fml lol chargin it up and hopefully the leak is gone if not i hav no idea ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Well its still leakin.....im confused |
You sure it's the high pressure line leaking and not a rubber return line?
|
Im sure...the high pressure line goes thru the fitting that fastens to the injector...its dumpin out in between the line and the fitting....its not the return lines
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- I hav fuel all over my pass side of the engine bay...id say there is sum pressure behind it |
Ok then the injector and/or the line are damaged and need replaced.
Injectors should be replaced as a set. |
