Don't relocate Flyght PMD's

I just had an interesting conversation with Customer service at Flight Systems this AM. They recommend not to relocate the PMD and say it has to go on the pump as the original was intended to. They say their PMD has been re-designed to operate on the pump not on a re-located heat sink and they do not warranty PMD's that have been relocated to the Heat sinks.
Moving back to the pump seems like a huge amount of work, and using the remote heat sink isn't working to well, with PMD's craping out every few months.
What are the recommendations from the other manufacturers of PMD's? Are they better than the Flight pmd's ?
