I have been dealing with SSDiesel for over 3 years - no complaints & products have been good.

brandon1481 08-24-2013 11:04 AM

the reason is ive seen forums where people install the ecm and the truck will loose power or sputter out

Neithrr imo 6.5 performance parts are a gimmick and shorten life span even more. 4in exhaust and crossover cai

If you are looking for performance, stoplight-stoplight racing, and/or towing 50 million pounds up Mt. Everest at 80 mph, find a different engine. The 6.2/ 6.5 was designed as an economical diesel engine with enough grunt to work modestly. It was not, is not, and will not ever be a performance engine. Treat it right and it will treat you right.

In my opinion the 6.5 td is a great engine. I tow a 27' Mallard TT with a 12' slide. yeah, it is slow on mountain highways & hills, but that's OK with me, I am in no hurry.
I put in a high performance water pump & fan to keep things cool and recently treated the engine to a new mechanical injector pump & injectors. My factory Downpipe has rusted out so to keep it breathing properly, I am currently installing a new custom downpipe 3" to 4" output to a 4" exhaust with a "Cherry Bomb" muffler.

At 260,000 kms, it has lots of life left in it yet!

i just want it to have a little more ass to it. i talked to the guy that owns heaths and he said he could do alot for the truck. he said he could make it smoke more and still keep it healthy running truck. i may go to them. still trying to find a way to hear the turbo. installed a 4 inch straight pipe and cant hear anything. and took the top part off the air box where the filter is open. im not sure what to do

I agree, the 6.2/6.5s are great engines. I absolutely love the turboed 6.2 I built to replace the 6.5T my truck came with. In my opinion, the 6.2 has way more ass than the 6.5 I had.

For a little more ass, you could turn up your IP about 1/8 turn. remove the stock wastegate actuator and make your own turbomaster.

I have a post somewhere here from when I made my own turbomaster. You should be able to find it really easy.

Just that (assuming your engine isn't worn out like my old 6.5), should give you a little more ass for the hill climbs.
