6.2 liter questions
I just bought a 1986 K20 6.2 liter N/A 4 Speed with granny low 4x4. It smokes when idling, mostly on drivers side clears up then comes back. While driving on the road it clears up. Good power at all times. Any ideas?:humm:

What color smoke? My first thought is valve stem seals.

Run power services, through it at the next fill up. will clean out gum and tarnish from the fuel lines and injection pump. If this dose not help then its new injectors time:c:

Color of the smoke is important to know.
Blue-oil or way too much fuel from a bad injector? Grey-incomplete combustion from low compression or many weak injectors? White-coolant? |
Smoke appears to be white. If it was coolant would it clear up?
Also, does anyone know anything about diesel chevetts? |
Coolant does not tend to clewar up but sometimes when warm and clearances change.
Only every saw 1 diesel chevette. |

They are factory. It uses an Isuzu engine. I have one but it needs work. When it was running properly I got 50 miles per gallon. Non turbo so doesn't do hills very well.

New question
When replacing glow plugs do I have to replace the controller also? I understand it is expensive, and I just don't have the money. What is the worst that will happen?

As long as the existing controller works you can continue to use it.
Not that expensive though. $85-$120 for controller $10 for sensor $8 ea. for bosch duratherm glows all at rock auto |
I have a 1984 chevette diesel and another engine, might consider selling if the price was right.

Loved them Chevettes back in the day never have seen a Diesel Chevette though I know they made them just never had the opportunity,Be kind of cool to see some pics of one.
